Speaker Minds
Speaker Minds
Since 2010, Speaker Minds' high energy and charismatic performance make for a memorable time for both themselves and spectators. With an intelligible emcee who enthusiastically expresses his love for hip-hop and community, an unapologetic and seasoned soul singer, and a band that has blended their diverse backgrounds to form a unique sound, there is never a dull moment!

Even while laying low for the previous year to transition new musicians into the group, Speaker Minds is creeping on a come up! This diverse band has been consistently blazing microphones and stages throughout the Northwest for over 8 years, solidifying themselves as a highly sought after, crowd rockin’ hip-hop band. Their lively and light-hearted performance has built a reputation for having even the sleepiest of crowds on their feet not long after their set has begun. Their collective dynamics and band member individuality presents a performance that is both a feel good time and inspirational.

Speaker Minds released their latest album titled “Gumbo Grooves” in January 2016, which features keys by the world famous Tony Ozier. Currently, the band is working on a new EP entitled "Wastelands", set to release by July of 2018 which will include a 2 week West coast tour for the kick off starting July 5th, 2018.

Portland native Randal Wyatt (Lead Vocals) established himself as a socially aware and charitable emcee before creating Speaker Minds in 2010. Randal's spirited stage presence captures audiences and he's often referred to as one intelligible emcee. His expressive lyrics pinpoint social issues with a lighthearted yet profound impression. He has opened for rap legends such as Slick Rick, Goodie Mob, LMNO and Kev Brown, Gift of Gab, Zion I, Blackalicious, Elzhi of Slum Village, Andre Nickatina, and The Beatnuts. Currently, he is helping pioneer many notable Hip Hop oriented charity events in his city, as well as mentoring and providing opportunity for aspiring youth.

DLUX the Light / Desmond Spann (Keyboard/Vocals) is an educated pianist whose peaceful demeanor comes alive with thoughtful lyricism, danceable key riffs and melodies once he hits the stage. Desmond's lively performance gets the audience moving! He is also a published author, spoken word artist and high school teacher who is also one of the active members of Portland’s Youth Summit.

Adrian Adel (Lead Vocals) is a classically trained singer hailing from every corner of the country, bringing more than 20 years experience of soul stirring skills. Formerly an aspiring opera singer, she found the funk and never looked back. Adrian has sang with legendary local Portland bands including Hungry Mob with Mic Crenshaw and 16-piece funk band Fatman with JR Pella. She has shared stages with Five Fingers of Funk, Michael Franti, Guru and Macklemore, too. She is a true soul singing sister with an unapologetic performance that will ignite a fire in your soul. If she brings her sweet treats to a show, you better eat one!

Jon McGuire (Bass) hails from Salt Lake City and describes himself as young, hungry and filled with love of the funk. His ability to create bass lines that stand out and make you want to turn the volume up is noteworthy. This man of few words is a man of action! Jon's tremendous passion for music shows in his performance and writing. Catch his footwork, if you're lucky!

Rob Jamieson (Drums) is an experienced drummer from Baltimore, MD and has shared his gift in many bands leading up to Speaker Minds. Rob's tenacity within the group is like glue. His well versed talent brings a creative and original style to the band, helping create a unique sound. When he isn’t providing percussion for audiences, he is helping shape the minds of youth through teaching and coaching.

A Portland resident of 5 years, Agyei Marshall (Guitar) blends musical stylings from multiple genres to bring his special brand of guitar playing to life. He joined Speaker Minds recently and blended so very well with the group that he has received death threats if he ever decided to leave. His brilliant rhythm adds an incredible accent to the band. You can find him playing with many different artists including Jeff and Agyei’s Funtime Nightmare Sing-Along, Farnell Newton and the Othership Connection, Tony Ozier, Laryssa Birdseye, Adebisi, The Breaking and more.

Courtney Noe
Maybe it’s her powerhouse vocals, unapologetically edgy lyrics, dangerous curves, or the Best New Artist 2020 scrawled in red lipstick on her bathroom mirror, but one thing is clear: Courtney Noe doesn’t believe in thinking small. “I literally envision myself rising out of the stage in Madison Square Garden every night before I go to sleep,” says the pop diva who describes herself as a hybrid of Wednesday Addams and April Ludgate. Her debut EP, Invisible Crown, was released in August 2016 and her single, "Invisible Crown” was played during halftime of Round 1, Game 4 of NBA Finals- Portland Trail Blazers vs. L.A. Clippers in 2016. She boasts a pop sound with soulful the influences of Motown and vocals that have earned her comparisons to Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga. She is currently working on new music with funk master Tony Ozier, set to release spring 2019.
