Rare Diagram
Rare Diagram
Rare Diagram is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Justin Chase. Born in a tiny town and raised by two classical musicians, his awareness of the canon of pop and rock music was limited. Chase funneled his rural boredom into jazz and classical piano practice until, at fifteen, he discovered the modern-day classics (OK Computer, Loveless, The White Album). Inspired by how his knowledge of music theory could apply to pop music, Chase started writing. The result is a sincere mixture of classic songwriting, harmonic sophistication sourced from jazz and prog, and arrangements that include symphonic flourishes.

Rare Diagram was formed in Portland, OR to support Justin Chase's 2014 apocalyptic debut solo EP, “On The Beach.” “Secret Shot,” the debut LP by the band, is a home recorded, quasi-concept album about belief. It was released in November 2015 to positive local reviews for it's sprawling, baroque-pop ambition.
